17-9. AutoCAD Extending the Line

How to extend or prolong the Line using EXTEND command in AutoCAD?

Modify Toolbar - Modiufy Menu EXTEND in AutoCAD

EXTEND command runs from the MODIFY toolbar, File Menu Modify > Extend, or the command line prompt, type the command.
Extend the command we can extend a line from its end (Endpoint)

Extending the line is done as follows:

Extend Line by a Mouse

  1. - click on the Extend
  2. - select an object (line), which is the limit for the extension (in this case the red line that will dash object and she was "Boundary edges" border-line edges)
  3. - press the Enter key (see the clause in the command line prompt)
  4. - click on the green line



Command: _extend
Current settings: Projection = UCS, Edge = None Select boundary edges ...

Second example of using the mouse to extend line:

Third Example How to use EXTEND in AutoCAD?


In the example below notice that the rectangle is drawn with the command Rectangle already LINE. Also there is a problem with the selection lines. If you want example: select the left side of the polygon and to the left to extend the lines of the rectangle then it might not be able to perform it when selecting the whole polygon will be selected. So you need to break into pieces with a command EXPLODE before executing the command extend.
