17-5. AutoCAD OFFSET Lines
How to use OFFSET command in AutoCAD

OFFSET command to run from the toolbar MODIFY with a File Menu Modify => Offset, or the command line prompt, type the command.
With PARALLEL OFFSET command can copy the lines and circles with a certain distance from the original lines.
TIP: objects that are not characters draw Polyline command and drawings that are connected to convert from different lines (Edit lines in the Polyline). See tutorial EDIT Polyline in AutoCAD.

Copy line by the Offset Command is done as follows:
1. using the mouse
- click on the Offset
- press the enter key
- select object
- click where you want to copy the object (from the original object)
Note that the command is still active after the first distance, press the Escape key to cancel the order.

2. using input values for the distance
- click on the Offset
- enter a value for the distance 20 (distance from the original line)
- press the Enter key
- select object
- click on one of the sides of the original line where you want to copy the object (with the original object)
Note that the command is still active after the first distance, press the Escape key to terminate command.

EXAMPLE OFFSET command with the Line and Polyline in AutoCAD
If you have a drawing that is drawn from parts (different lines) and want to apply the OFFSET command you can just get the desired result if not previously converted, all lines in the Polyline.
So should the lines before the OFFSET command to merge into a single Polyline.

An example (image below) of drawings where the OFFSET command applying to the multiple Line (left part of the image) and the Polyline (right part of the image) in AutoCAD

So let's say after the merged of these two Polylines (in the drawing below) and REGION command you can draw a drawing of this design in 3D.
